Come to the Garden
I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear, The Son of God discloses….
He speaks, and the sound of His voice, is so sweet the birds hush their singing…
This song brought back memories of the 2010 Resurrection production Ryan and I wrote, directed and produced. It took you on a journey of a young man struggling with anger and blaming everyone for his problems. He discovered true freedom and healing when he came to the garden to meet Jesus.
Jesus still beckons us… “Come to the Garden.” He bids us to come and receive healing for all of our diseases. Now you may ask, what diseases? Diseases of your soul-anger, depression, negative attitude, unforgiving spirit, hatred and any sin that imprisons you. He can redeem your life from the pit you live in and make everything new.
But you must stop blaming God and everyone else for your sins. God is a just God, not allowing sin to go unpunished. Yet, we know Him as a forgiving, loving, and compassionate Father, ready and willing with open arms to forgive and bring wholeness. But you must come to the garden for yourself.
So, you may ask, what do I do? One of the songs in the production answered this question.
What do you do when you’re all alone? Who do you turn to?
What do you do when all hope is gone? And all your dreams fall through.
What do you do when you’re in despair? And who will wipe your tears?
Who can mend your broken heart? Who will calm your fears?
What do you do when you can’t go on? How do you live each day?
How can you face your tomorrows? When all have gone away.
Just come to the garden, come alone, Jesus will meet you there.
He’ll hear your cry, wipe the tear from your eye, your burdens He will bear.
Come to the garden, come alone, and meet Jesus face to face.
He’ll forgive your sin, cleanse you from within; Find His love, mercy, and grace.
Go to a quiet place and pray to the Lord from your heart. Enter into His presence. He’s waiting for you. Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. He went to the garden to talk to the Father to seek God’s will at His moment of deep sorrow. He separated himself from his disciples. He went alone. He knew He had to die for you and me to set us free.
See, freedom resides in the garden. Give Jesus your pain, your hurts, your life. Confess your sins to Him and receive His love, mercy and grace. In the garden, Jesus walks and talks with you. He sets you free. But no one can do it for you. You must come to the garden alone.
Jesus knows you are tired. You’ve been trying to do it all on your own your entire life. Quit fighting. Cast your anger, your hurt, and all of your burdens on Him. He will give you rest.
But if you haven’t given your life to Christ, you will never be free. You will always be a prisoner of your sins. Believe in Him and you shall receive eternal life-total freedom from death. Then trust in Him daily to receive freedom from life’s burdens. No matter what mistakes you made in the past, He can change your future.
And he walks with me, and He talks with me, And he tells me I am His own.
And the joy we share as we tarry there, None other has ever known.
The chorus of the song keeps reminding me that I am His precious child and He loved me enough to die for me. He paid the price for every sin I committed and will ever make. But He conquered the grave, physically rose from the dead after 3 days, and possesses all power and authority to do all things.
I don’t know about you, but during this Resurrection week, I am so grateful that Jesus still lives today providing healing and freedom for all of my diseases. Because if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed! And the joy we share as we tarry in the garden together, none other will ever know. Why? Simply…
