Grooving with Jesus

As most of you know, Ryan and I are in the midst of launching our first play outside of the church walls. We will present “COVERED” on September 1. As we approach the deadline, I find myself inundated with so many tasks. But I know me and my body started to say, “Hey, its time to slow down and just groove. The play belongs to Him…Jesus, you’ve got this.”

So, when I need to chill out, I often listen to music-gospel, jazz, or ole Motown grooves. Ahhh… and here we go. I started groovin’ away. But something different happened this time. My mind pulled some ole familiar songs into the “what might” mode…. What might Jesus say to us when we get stressed. Using titles of some old school songs, I starting “grooving with Jesus.” See how many you remember.

Jesus might say something like this to us:

Hello, It’s Me. When you need me, call me, I’ll be There because Aint’ No Mountain High Enough to keep me from getting to you. You are My Girl and You Really Got a Hold on Me. You Are the Sunshine of My Life, and I hope you realize that with me, Aint’ Nothing Like the Real Thing! All I have for you is Endless Love.

I know for sure Heaven Must Have Sent You. And I want you to know that your life and salvation are Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m yours. It took me 32 years to walk on the earth and prove my love because you see, You Can’t Hurry Love. I love you so much, but Oh, How Sweet It is to be Loved by You and because you chose me, You’ve Made Me So Very Happy.

I realize I created man first, but Then Came You. I fashioned you so fearfully and wonderfully that you stand beautiful like a mighty Brick House! In fact, you are not one, not two, but girl you are Three Times a Lady. I don’t want you to ever Shop Around. Know that you will always get Respect from Me and I want you to always Respect Yourself.

So, Come To Me when you get tired. My yoke is easy… it’s like ABC. All you have to do is Reach Out, I’ll Be There. My goal is to take you to Higher Ground.

If you ever try to leave me, I will say Stop! In the Name of Love. I will chase you. I Want You Back. Do I Love You? Indeed, I do. The only question I have for you is Do You Love Me? Because I Can’t Help Myself from loving you. I’m with you all day and All Night Long.

I don’t know about you but knowing that Jesus feels this way gets me Dancing In the Street and allows me to Keep on Truckin’ and continue Cruisin’. So, I will just sit back, groove with Him, and move forward. Why? Simply…
